Adjuvants in Salmonella vaccines

The adjuvant that is used in a vaccine plays an important role in the safety profile of the Salmonella vaccine

Adjuvants generally used in inactivated Salmonella vaccines are:

  • Water in oil adjuvant: A strong immune response is elicited after vaccination but can cause serious vaccine reactions at the injection site.
  • Aluminium hydroxide: Elicits a strong immune response, with minimal vaccine reactions.

See the left navigation for more information on aluminium hydroxide adjuvant and field trials.
